Riso Print Guide
We work with a RISO SF5350 printer, and currently we have 10 RISO colours.
The cost of riso printing depends on various factors:
-
We use Fabriano 160 gsm A3 uncoated paper for regular printing projects.
We also have from 80 gsm to 300 gsm A3-size paper in stock. The paper has a natural warm white tone. The cost of paper is 3-5 DKK per sheet. If you are looking for something specific, please let us know. (You are welcome to bring your own paper for printing, as long as they are uncoated. )
-
The printer can handle up to A3 size (420 × 297 mm), but risograph printing doesn’t go all the way to the edge—there will be a small margin of about 5 mm. For full-bleed posters, we recommend using a size of 400 × 280 mm.
For business cards, postcards, and other small prints, it’s a good idea to place multiple images on one A3 sheet to save on master costs.
-
When printing with the RISO printer, the printer will make a stencil using a sheet of rice paper (master). For an image with multiple colours, a sheet of master will be made for each colour. Each master costs 250dkk.
Each colour in the design needs to be exported as a separate, flattened grayscale PDF file. If you haven’t printed with Riso before, we can also help with colour separation.
As the machine prints one color at a time, slight misalignment between layers is a natural part of the risograph process. Ink-heavy areas may also show subtle roller marks.
-
We offer support with file preparation, troubleshooting, and post-print finishing.
For larger or ongoing projects, we’re happy to provide a time estimate in advance.
It’s often tricky to estimate the cost of a print project without seeing the design file. If you’d like a more accurate quote, feel free to email us at info@theprinthouse.dk
